Why Your Content Is Not Working and What to Do About It
I spent three months posting content every single day. Stories. Reels. Carousels. Blogs. Everything I had read about content marketing told me consistency was the key.
But nothing was happening. No clients. No meaningful engagement. Just the sound of crickets. Then I realized I had been doing it completely wrong.
I was creating content I thought people wanted to see. Not content they actually needed. Here is what I changed and what you can change too.
The Problem Is Not How Much You Post
More content does not mean more clients. I learned this the hard way.
What matters is not the volume. It is whether your content makes your reader feel understood.
When someone reads your post and feels like “this person gets exactly what I am going through,” they will get in touch. That is the feeling you are trying to create. And it has nothing to do with how often you post.
One Idea Done Well Beats Ten Ideas Done Quickly
I used to pack five tips into every post trying to give maximum value. It just felt overwhelming. Nobody remembered any of it. Now I take one idea and go deep.
I explain it simply. I give one real example. I make it something the reader can actually use today.
That kind of content gets saved, shared, and remembered. And it leads to conversations that eventually turn into clients.
Write Like You Are Texting a Friend
When I started writing like I actually talk casually, directly, and honestly everything changed.
Short sentences. Everyday words. Real examples from my actual experience. Nobody wants to read a textbook. They want to hear from a real person who genuinely understands their situation.
Read your content out loud before you publish. Rewrite it until it sounds more like you if it sounds formal or stiff.
Always Give Them a Next Step
For a long time I would write a great post and just… end it. No direction. No invitation. Nothing. People would read it, maybe enjoy it, and then leave. And I would never hear from them again.
Now every piece of content ends with a clear next step. Follow me. Send me a message. Book a free call. Subscribe to my newsletter.
Give people somewhere to go after they read your content. That is what turns readers into clients.
Content marketing does not have to be complicated or exhausting. Write for one specific person. Focus on one idea at a time. Sound like yourself. And always give a next step. Do that consistently and your content will start bringing you the right people. I needed some time to figure this out. I’m hoping it saves you some time.
FAQ
How long should my blog posts be?
Long enough to fully answer one question. Short enough to keep people reading. For most topics that is somewhere between 500 and 800 words.
What should I write about?
Write about the most frequently asked questions by your clients. Every query is an unwritten blog post.
Should I repurpose my blogs into social posts?
Yes, always. One blog can become five social media posts, an email, and a short video. Get maximum value from every piece you create.
How often should I publish?
Once or twice a week is ideal. But even once a week done consistently for six months will build something real.
